Dr Annabelle Pabiona-De Guzman: Philippine Institute of Traditional and Alternative Health Care

Speaking at General Assembly Meeting #78 on Monday, February 27, Dr Annabelle Pabiona-De Guzman gave an incredible presentation about the Philippine Institute of Traditional and Alternative Health Care.

Who is Dr Annabelle Pabiona-De Guzman?

• Dr Annabelle Pabiona-De Guzman is the incumbent Director General of the Philippine Institute of Traditional and Alternative Health Care (PITAHC).

• Annabelle’s long list of achievements starts from Elementary and High school as class Valedictorian to being an honorific scholar at the University of the Philippines, Diliman during her Pre- Medicine degree, to being a British Council Scholar during her Masters in Medical Education at the University of Guildford in Surrey, United Kingdom.

• She also became the Board Topnotcher (rank #1) of the Philippine Academy of Family Physicians Diplomate Board Exams in 1991.

• Annabelle earned her Diplomate at the Department of Family & Community Medicine, UP-PGH Medical Center from 1987-1989 and is a graduate of Masters in Hospital Administration at the UP- College of Public Health.

• She is also a Career Executive Service Officer of the Career Executive Service Board. Prior to being the Director General of PITAHC, she was a Medical Center Chief for various hospitals of the DOH, mainly in the Western Visayas region.

• Under her leadership PITAHC has earned ISO certification 9001:2015 and was also awarded the Philippine Government Management Service Award by the Department of Budget and Management, FOI Grand Champion Award by the PCOO, Office of the President.

• PITAHC has also accredited 10 modalities for Traditional and Complementary Medicine namely: Acupuncture, Naturopathy, Traditional Filipino Medicine or Hilot, Tuina Massage, Homeopathy, Chiropractic, Osteopathy, and Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda and Anthroposophic Medicine.

• In 2020, Annabelle was named as the Most Prominent Woman Empowerment Award in Government Service as awarded by the RESPECT: Noble Queen of the Universe Ltd., Inc.

• In 2021, she was awarded by the World Council Excellence as the Most Outstanding Woman Excellence Award in the Field of Medicine and the Special Dignitary Medical Advocate Excellence Award.

• In 2022, she was awarded as the Most Leading and Iconic Director General in Traditional and Complementary Health Care in All Time given by the Asia’s Golden Icons Awards.

• Dr Annabelle Pabiona-De Guzman is married to Dr. Christopher Rey G. De Guzman, an Allergy, Asthma, Immunology specialist and mother to Chris John David De Guzman, who graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in Education majoring in Special Education for the Gifted, and who finished his Masters of Education- with concentration in Educational Diagnostics at the Houston Baptist University in Texas, USA. He is also a multi-awarded International Violinist.
